Thrust Ball Bearing
Thrust ball bearings are available in single direction and double direction design. The single direction bearing is capable of supporting thrust load in one direction only whereas the double direction bearing can support thrust loads in either direction. Radial load cannot be supported in either design. Slight misalignments can induce severe detrimental effects; the thrust bearings must be kept square with the shaft or used in conjunction with self-aligning seats. Also, the operation while completely unloaded will cause roller skidding and consequent scuffling of rollers and raceways Thrust ball bearings are suitable for applications where large loads act parallel to the axis of rotation and where the rotational speeds are lower.
